BLACKSMITHING WORKSHOP FOR ACTIVE AND VETERAN MILITARY NEAR LEONARDTOWN, MARYLAND ON 13 APRIL 2024
This will be hands-on training in old skills for a small group. We have room for seven participants who will get to work in the forge of a Tribe friend who is a blacksmith, and with his assistant who will be on hand. Part of the training may be outdoors and with a more rustic Viking theme though not a Viking age forge. Come dressed as a Viking if you wish some of us will, but long pants, long sleeves, no loose clothing, and closed toe shoes. Coffee, water, snacks, and a hearty meal around the campfire will be provided free of charge. We will tell stories and sing Sea Shanties around the fire. There will be no charge for this training as it is part of our Veterans charitable program; however, donations are always welcome. We will also have some Tribe tee shirts and bling for those interested in buying as all the profit goes to our 501c3 nonprofit.
This marks the fourth year that we have done blacksmithing, some of those have been in excellent and well-equipped forges, but this session will focus on the more ancient skills and perhaps serve as inspiration to set up your own forge. Participants will get to forge items like boat hooks or even mead horn holders.
To register you must be an active or veteran military member. When you register, we will send you an email with the location and contact instructions near Leonardtown, Maryland. Please do not delay, the small number of slots will go quickly. Register in the store.
